A note from our 2022 Honorary Chair, Leslie Geoghegan

During my experience with breast cancer over the past few years, I’ve learned a lot. Maybe most importantly, that a sense of humor can get you through almost anything, and that having cancer is a little bit like getting to go to your own funeral without having to die first.

The outpouring of love that I experienced from my family, friends, my church family and more was incredible. It helped me realize I wasn’t invisible and that I had a lot of people in my corner.

One of the best parts was when my friends at HCF reached out and asked what they could do to help.

I’ve worked for North Mississippi Health Services as a graphic designer for more than 41 years, so I’ve been involved in the design and marketing of Take a Swing at Cancer from the beginning. I never knew I would get such a personal view of why this tournament is so important.

I was lucky enough to have an incredible support system around me during cancer treatment and after, but not everyone has that. You can see it when you’re sitting in the waiting room or chemo bay. The Foundation and the Cancer Care Fund serves as that much-needed support system for so many patients.

I hope you’ll consider making a gift to HCF. This is a great way to honor someone you know who’s been affected by cancer, and your thoughtfulness will make a big difference in the lives of people in our community.

Thank you for your friendship and support.
